This artistic project aims to reveal technical possibilities and innovative oboe playing techniques, richness of oboe timbres, intonational expression and expansion of their range. The project offers specific new technological ways to achieve the objective. It presents the options of oboe preparation and fingering which imply new possibilities of expression. The research paper discusses new playing techniques: using separate parts of the oboe, reeds only as well as reed staples or oboe with several reeds. The author is carrying out original acoustic research of the oboe’s sound. The resonance of the piano or percussion instruments is used to show the resources for changing the sound of the oboe full of subtle nuances. The work discusses all single-sound and multi-sound playing techniques and their nature, potential use of all playing techniques on instruments similar to the oboe. The new ways of playing the oboe proposed by the author will be presented in the enclosed CD and DVD. The discoveries presented by the author such as the methods of preparation, use of reeds for playing, changing the direction of sound also have a practical dimension as they enrich the sound of music and help composers maximise the application of their ideas.
