Artistic Doctorate

Since 2010, the Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy has been training doctors of art in Music and in Theatre and Film. The purpose of the artistic doctorate is to develop artist researchers who combine artistic practice and research, enrich their fied of art with valuable insights and new knowledge based on their artistic maturity and research skills. The artistic doctorate programmes of LMTA cover music, theatre and film studies, as well as preparation and public presentation (defence) of an artistic research project. At present, LMTA’s artistic doctorate students are working on 30 artistic research projects.
